Measuring biological age

Before anything can be called age reversal, it has to be measured. Aging clocks estimate how old your body seems from blood tests or chemical tags on your DNA.

Plasma exchange and young blood

Studies in mice that shared blood between old and young animals led to trials of replacing plasma, the liquid part of blood, in older people.

Regrowing the thymus

The thymus, a gland that trains immune cells, shrinks with age. A few small trials have tried to regrow it.

Clearing old cells

Old, damaged cells that stop dividing build up with age. Senolytics are drugs and compounds meant to clear them out.

Drugs tested against aging

Medicines first made for other uses, and supplements, that researchers are testing against aging itself.

The science of aging

Why we age, the hallmarks of aging, and how researchers hope to slow or reverse it.
